The Youth Leader Competition, an initiative of The Global Education & Leadership Foundation, was launched in 2009 with the mission to recognise exceptional leadership skills in school students as well as honour them for their outstanding contribution to society. The Youth Leader Competition is a year-long student engagement programme to identify exceptional talent with an emphasis on ethical, altruistic, and action-oriented leadership. The vision of the competition is to promote social entrepreneurship and leadership by enabling school students to initiate change and make a sustainable impact on society. tGELF takes pride in the varied issues and causes that the young change-makers have identified and adopted.
In keeping with tGELF’s vision for sustainable change, the themes for Youth Leader 2025 have been taken from the Global Goals for Sustainable Development created by the UN and adopted by more than 190 countries, with India being one of them. The Goals have been adopted to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda.
tGELF remains steadfast in upholding its mission and vision, which includes promoting altruism and fostering leadership qualities in youth. We as an organization, encourage the students to be participants and solution drivers for the challenges they identify in their communities.
The projects undertaken for Youth Leader 2025 can be from any of the SDGs, however, we suggest focusing on those listed below:

Transforming Our World Together
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. These 17 goals address the world’s most pressing challenges—from hunger and health to climate and equality.
In partnership with Junior Achievement Worldwide, this competition fosters entrepreneurial thinking and work readiness among students of Grades 9–12 from tGELF member schools. Participants develop innovative business projects—ranging from for-profit ventures to social enterprises—and compete at intra-school, regional, and national levels.
Selected teams receive mentorship from past finalists and coaching from industry professionals. Workshops cover key business skills, and the top student companies are celebrated at the Finale in Harmony, featuring a gala awards ceremony and talks by notable leaders.

tGELF/ JA India LEAD Company of the Year Competition (CoYC)
JA CoYC India National Finals 2024
The tGELF/JA India LEAD Company of the Year Competition India National Finals is hosted by tGELF/JA India every year. Students from all across India compete at the intra school level where they showcase their work, receive feedback and make progress. Industry experts are invited to hold workshop sessions for the students on multipe aspects of business. The students' business projects can range from for-profit to social entrepreneurship plans. Students gain business startup, financial and presentation skills. Through this engagement, students realize that their acquired skills address real needs and have real life opportunities.

Reel to Real
The Motion Picture Competition
Reel to Real is Harmony’s signature motion picture competition, where students bring stories to life through the art of filmmaking. It encourages young creators to think critically, script creatively, and translate ideas from imagination (reel) to reality (real).
Participants learn the essence of visual storytelling and blending narrative, sound, as well as visuals to communicate powerful messages.
This year’s thought-provoking theme, “The Last Internet Café,” invites participants to explore the intersection of technology, nostalgia, and human connection. Students are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own unique way, whether as a glimpse into a future where digital spaces have vanished, a story of memories and friendships built online, or a reflection on how the internet shapes our sense of community.
The competition celebrates originality, direction, and storytelling, inspiring young filmmakers to use their creativity and voice to make audiences think, feel, and connect.
MAGIC with Colours Art for Voice Competition
Magic With Colours is an annual art-based competition under Harmony, designed to celebrate creativity, imagination, and expression among students. It provides young artists( Classes 6-8) with a platform to visualize and communicate ideas. The Magic With Colours competition gives students the opportunity to interpret thought-provoking topics that blend personal reflection, storytelling, and imagination.
